So you demolished the buildings downtown to make parking lots for the buildings downtown.
Unfortunately, there is now no reason to use the parking lots because there are no buildings to go to. Seems like you screwed up a bit.
This is actually why so many American cities went into decline after the dawn of the automobile age. I’d say a flat parking lot is the most wasteful thing anyone could possibly build anywhere ever.
